The successful Senior Electrical Designer will be an individual or incumbent who will be responsible for the general execution of the Electrical design department activities. He/She will provide supervision, training and technical guidance to the various Electrical Designers who they supervise and make recommendations to the Instrumentation and Electrical Department Manager regarding the hiring of designers who have a general Electrical design background or who are experienced with leading an Electrical design effort on a task force. He/She will support the Lead Electrical Engineer and participate in developing the project schedule relative to the Electrical design activities and assist in the preparation of the Electrical man hour estimate. He/She will perform all design work on schedule and within the budget of man hours. He/She will communicate with Chief Engineers to ensure that proper design assistance is provided to the various disciplines. He/She will demonstrate effective communication skills, be a self starter and work well with other Commonwealth and Customer staff.
II. Reporting and Interfaces
Functional: Reports directly to the Lead Electrical Engineer, Project Director, Project Manager or Director of Engineering
Administrative: Reports to the Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering Manager
Subordinate Interface, coordination and cooperation includes, but may not be limited to: Electrical Designers, and Associate Electrical Designers
III. Basic Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 5-10 years hydrocarbon, energy, chemical, refining or closely related process industry experience
Demonstrated Management and Supervision experience of Electrical Designers
Proven experience with Electrical equipment, schedules and project administration
Possesses fundamental knowledge and experience with construction
Familiar with equipment design, fabrication and inspection
Detailed knowledge of IEEE and NEC codes, and commitment to Safety stewardship and management
Fundamental knowledge of power distribution, electric transformers and motor control centers
Detailed knowledge of Electrical wiring diagrams, installation details, lighting systems and cable schedules
Familiarity with short circuit analysis, relay coordination studies and grounding systems
Possesses the ability to recognize construction execution issues and act accordingly to communicate and mitigate negative impacts, schedule erosion or negative cost trends in an effective and timely manner
Familiar with Quality control and Assurance and possesses working knowledge of requisite codes and standards
Capable of participating in meetings and communicating effectively up and down the chain of command
Familiar with project control cost, scheduling and estimating functions to the extent that issues are realized in sufficient detail to effect timely notice of higher management

V. Education/Formal Training
Minimum requirements are a High School Diploma
Associates Technology Degree or BS Degree (Preferred)
