The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for the general accounting of a project or projects and the related activities including, but not limited to: Construction Accounting, Cost Accounting, Project Accounting, Auditing and Reporting. The Accounting Specialist will be the primary project person responsible for all accounting matters and liaison with the home office Accounting Department. The individual should possess requisite accounting knowledge and experience. The Accounting Specialist can expect to take some direction from the site leadership team and primary direction from the home office Accounting Department and will require a minimum of technical support or resources. He will demonstrate effective communication skills, be a self starter and work well with other site and project staff, both Commonwealth and the Customer.
II.Reporting and Interfaces
Functional: Reports directly to home office Accounting Management with on site direction from the Site Project Director, Senior Field Project Manager, Field Project Manager, and on smaller, less complicated projects, may also take direction from the Project Director, Project Manager or Director of Construction
Administrative: Reports to the Accounting Manager
Interface, coordination and cooperation with other personnel includes, but may not be limited to: Field Project Engineer, Site Control Team Leader, Site Administration Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, Safety Supervisor/Manager and Quality Control Supervisor/Manager and other site assigned project personnel as may be required
III.Basic Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 5 years accounting for hydrocarbon, energy, chemical, refining or closely related process industry
Proven experience with Construction Accounting, Project Accounting, General Accounting and Auditing
Possesses fundamental knowledge and experience with Construction Contracts and Contract Administration
Knowledge of site administration, logistics and material control
Familiar with Construction Safety Standards and commitment to a safe work site
Possesses the ability to recognize project accounting issues and act accordingly to communicate and help mitigate negative impacts, schedule erosion or negative cost trends in an effective and timely manner
Capable of participating in meetings and communicating effectively up and down the chain of command
Familiar with project accounting controls to the extent that issues are realized in sufficient detail to effect timely notice of higher management
Has an appreciation for other related project services such as purchasing, time keeping, material control, receiving and warehousing, rigging, transportation and related site logistics

V.Education/Formal Training
Bachelors Degree with major in Accounting preferred with extensive Construction and Project Accounting experience allowed as a substitute
