The successful Cost Analyst is responsible for working with the Principal and/or Senior Cost Analyst in the recording and forecasting of project costs and expenses of all aspects of a project’s execution phases including: Studies, Preliminary Engineering, Detailed Engineering, Home Office Procurement, Site/ Field Commodity Purchasing, Construction Contracting, Mobilization, Construction, Commissioning, and Start Up and/or any more detailed subset thereof. This individual will be responsible for learning and understanding the change management process and its impact on project costs; he/she will also be expected to learn fundamentals of CPM scheduling.
II. Reporting and Interfaces
Functional: Reports directly to a Project Controls Project Lead, Construction Manager, Principal Cost Analyst or Project Manager
Administrative: Reports to the Project Controls Department Manager
Peer Interfaces: Buyers, Discipline Engineers, and Lead Designers
III. Basic Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 3-5 years hydrocarbon, energy, chemical, refining or closely related process industry experience is a plus
Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in cost management
Working knowledge of and experience with commercially available cost management tools and software is a plus
Possesses ability to prepare and issue timely project cost reports
Experience in project accounting and auditing is a plus
Understanding cash management, cash flow curves, contingency reserve analysis will be expected.
Capable of working closely with others and communicating cost management goals and objectives
Familiarization with project planning and scheduling functions in sufficient detail to support the preparation of cost estimates or budget forecasts

V. Education/Formal Training
BS/Associate Degree in a related field is preferred.
